For Ma. Lydia “Arly” Torio, 48, losing everything to the flood is truly heartbreaking but she and her family were still thankful that they survived even if they only had themselves and their pets.

It might be disheartening to see their house damaged by the flood, with very little of their things left for them to save; but for the family, these things can be easily replaced. They are thankful in the knowledge that lives lost in the calamity could never be returned but the things can still be bought in the future.

Delivery Man Accused of ‘Infecting’ Parcels by Licking Finally Speaks Up

A delivery man who was accused of ‘infecting’ parcels by licking finally speaks up – and he slammed the rich people who look down on poor people like him, saying that these rich guys simply make up stories without seeking the truth.

Delivery Man Accused of ‘Infecting’ Parcels

Recently, photos of a delivery man in blue uniform went viral after he was accused of ‘infecting’ parcels by licking the plastic package of an item he was supposed to deliver. This apparently happened outside the gated community of Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila.

In the original post, someone shared photos taken from a CCTV of a house near the gate of the community. The guy was squatting by the sidewalk as he appears to lick the package. There were even photos of him wiping his mouth, leading many netizens to feel scared that there are people who are actually doing this to deliveries.

Amid the COVID-19 scare, there are so many people who fear that packages might get infected with the virus. This has long been the fear of customers, particularly because there are scientific reports that the virus lives on surfaces for hours, even days!

But after the post went viral, the delivery man in the picture spoke up to defend himself. Justine Rainer Israel wrote:

Teen Seeks Help Against Former Maid-Turned-Stepmother Who Keeps Hurting Her Dad

The woman arrived at their house out of the blue. Her dad hired the woman to be their maid, but she soon became the stepmother and kept hurting the man who doesn’t even fight back! Tsk. Tsk.

Teen Seeks Help Against Stepmother

After seeing her father getting repeatedly hurt by her pseudo stepmother, Kristine Anna Maravilla sought help from Raffy Tulfo in Action so they can find justice.

In the interview with Tulfo, Kristine revealed that the woman had simply arrived at their house last year asking if she could use their bathroom and also have some food. The kindhearted Tatay Anthony Maravilla readily gave food to the woman named Juwena Dela Peña.

After learning that Tatay Anthony is a widower, Juwena applied for maid at their house – and Tatay Anthony hired her. But Tatay Anthony claimed that just a few days later, Juwena began sleeping in his bedroom.

Soon, the two had a baby. But even before having the child, Juwena was constantly hurting Tatay Anthony, his daughter said. Because she can’t also fight for her dad, the younger woman chose to just take videos as evidence of Juwena’s actions.

Even if Tatay Anthony is holding their child, Juwena does not even seem to care as she hits him – yet he never even tries to do anything to fight her. Poor Tatay Anthony.

Taking pity on her father, Kristine decided to seek help from Tulfo. While Tatay Anthony wants to call it quits, Juwena refuses to break up with him even if Tulfo was also backing him up.

She claims that she wouldn’t leave because every time they break up, it is Tatay Anthony who keeps begging to have her back. But not that Tatay Anthony said he doesn’t want her anymore because she constantly hurts him, she still refuses to go…

Due to Internet Lag, Girl Accidentally Places Same Order 42x on FoodPanda

A 7-year-old girl was brought to tears after dozens of FoodPanda riders arrived at their house carrying the same order. Apparently, she placed the same order 42x due to internet lag!

Internet Lag Causes Multiple Orders

These days, it is easy for us to order food from our favorite restaurants at the comforts of our own homes, thanks to the many apps that offer food delivery options. But such systems are not 100% fail-proof, as exemplified by the experience of a girl who was brought to tears after dozens of FoodPanda riders arrived at their house to bring her order.

An app glitch caused by internet lag led dozens of riders to the house of a 7-year-old girl at Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City. Her name is withheld for her privacy and safety.

Apparently, the girl’s parents who are both working left her a smartphone she can use at home to order some food for lunch. Using the phone, the young girl had ordered a box of 2-piece chicken fillet with rice and French fries.

The order just costs Php189. But due to an app glitch due to internet lag, the girl kept clicking the order because it kept failing. What she did not know is that though the order appeared to fail, each one was actually sent to the system.

Imagine her fright when riders began to arrive at their house. Living by a narrow alley, the commotion caused the neighbors to come out – and they were surprised to learn about the girl’s situation. With the girl left at home with her grandma, the two can’t possibly eat all the chicken fillets.

Moreover, with 42 orders sent, the girl would have to shell out a total of Php7,938! Taking pity on the child and her grandma, knowing she didn’t do it on purpose, the neighbors pitched in to help. Many bought several orders from the riders, though there were riders who simply left as they also took pity on the child.

It was a good thing the neighborhood helped out as much as they could, but others said this should serve as lesson for parents not to leave their smartphones with kids to make online orders.

How to Fix Internet Lag

Internet lag is a common problem, particularly in the Philippines where most internet providers have slow service. There are some ways to fix internet lag. Some joke that this is best fixed by moving to a different internet provider, but the problem appears to be applicable to all ISPs.

To reduce lag, stay as close to the router as possible. Also, put the router in a central place in the house, with less walls to block the signal. If possible, connect your device directly to the router using an ethernet cable.

Refreshing the router by turning it off for a few seconds might also do the trick.
