PWD Donates All Money He Got from Begging for Victims of Typhoon Ulysses

He begged in the streets for his medicines. But after learning that so many people are having a difficult time due to Typhoon Ulysses, a PWD decided to donate everything he got to help them out! Wow.

PWD Donates to Typhoon Victims

These past weeks had been difficult to millions of people, particularly in Luzon, who had been hit by a series of typhoons. The last one, Typhoon Ulysses, brought floods of epic proportions that were likened to the ones from Typhoon Ondoy back in 2009.

With so many people losing their homes due to the flood and other natural calamities, donations poured in from across many sectors to help these typhoon victims. What’s so nice is that even those who don’t really have a lot of money also stepped in to help out.

Donations came in, even from a PWD who needed the money for himself yet selflessly chose to donate what he was able to receive instead.

When people donated money for his medicines, Tatay Romy Menil decided to give everything to the victims of Typhoon Ulysses – and that amounted to Php12,390 which he personally gave to Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro.

According to Jazz Pher Justo, a volunteer at Marikina City Hall, they thought at first that Tatay Romy was there to ask for assistance but they were happy to learn that he’s there to donate for the other flood victims.

Typhoon Ondoy

Typhoon Ondoy is one of the most devastating typhoons in the Philippines. It led to damages worth $6.2 billion, mostly because the flood waters were so high. The typhoon was slow-moving but brought a lot of rain that was dumped into Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and nearby areas.

It entered PAR on September 23, 2009 and exited on September 30, making it one of the slowest yet most devastating storms to hit the country.

Siblings Open Shop for Parents’ Hospital Bills

In life, parents are the ones who are expected to take care of their children, provide for their needs, and make sure that they are alright. Yet things don’t always go as planned.

In Cebu City, Vanessa Jane Navalta and her siblings had to set up a stall by the sidewalk so they can sell baked goodies to fund their parents’ respective treatments. They did not expect this to happen, of course, but the siblings are willing to do everything in their power to make sure that their parents get better soon.

My dad underwent a quadruple bypass on the 10th and my mom got into a minor accident shortly afterwards. So our hospital bill is already almost P2 million na,” Vanessa explained.

Unsure where they are going to get the money to fund these treatments and pay the hospital bills, Vanessa and her siblings decided to raise money through selling baked goods.

For those living near (Lahug) or those who know people living near the area, please feel free to stop by the stall my sisters’ have set up to help raise funds for my dad’s hospital bills. The stall is set up in front of Cebu Aeronautical Technical School at Salinas Drive. It’s in front of Mango Six and beside Golden Cowrie,” Vanessa called out to potential customers in Cebu.

They have a variety of baked goods sold, safety essentials, and my sister also accepts art commissions. You may also help by ordering through Barkatouille directly as well. My dad is still admitted and it’s been 15 days since so we still need all the financial assistance we could get.

People were curious why their sidewalk shop is called ‘Barkatouille’, but it turned out that they first opened the online store to raise funds for their dog’s hospitalization. When their parents also needed to be hospitalized, the siblings decided to just keep the name.

Our online business started to fund for my dog’s hospitalization hence the name Barkatouille. But now it’s to fund for my dad,” she explained.

Doon ko na-realize na dapat akong magsumikap,” he recalled.

But being poor did not become a hindrance for Felix. Instead, this became his inspiration to try harder to succeed in life so he could also enjoy the same conveniences that his classmates had.

Things were not easy for him at first. As bus conductor, he only earned a few pesos per day, but someone inspired him to try harder to reach for his dreams.

Naging konduktor ako. Sumusweldo ng 10-15 pesos kada araw. May naging kaibigan ako.

In America, the former bus conductor found fortune after investing everything he had in a fleet of cars for rent.

“Basta ‘wag kang mag-give up. Aim high.

Recently, one dog impressed so many people after it was seen pushing its owner’s wheelchair across the street. There were no people accompanying the man on the wheelchair but it appears that he trusts his dog to be his guide and assistant wherever he was going.

Shared by Krizzia Aurelio, the photos were met with praise from netizens who admired both the dog and the man.

Saw them at the street. It really melt my heart😍💕. Kudos to this dog🐕👏,” Aurelio wrote in the post.

Many were amazed that the dog knew how to do this to its owner’s wheelchair; though it is possible that it learned by observing the people who pushed the wheelchair. Some netizens also believed that the dog might have been trained to do this to help the man in the wheelchair, just in case there are no people to accompany him if he needed to go outside.

Some netizens expressed concern that the dog and the man might be in danger as they ply the streets, considering that the dog won’t be able to see the road ahead as it pushes the wheelchair. But it is highly likely that the man is the one who navigates the wheelchair.
