Grade 10 Students’ Impressive “El Filibusterismo” Trailer Project Goes Viral

These days, a lot of young people are so ‘techie’ that you don’t even have to teach them how to use tech gadgets, apps, and software because they would just figure these out on their own. A lot of young kids even know better than adults!

That certainly holds true in this impressive “El Filibusterismo” trailer created by a group of Grade 10 students for a school project. What really amazed netizens is that the trailer looks like it’s the real thing – and many even thought that the trailer was for real, until they reached the part where the students shared the outtakes and how they actually did the project.

The Grade 10 students from Bulacan State University Laboratory High School earned praise for their realistic project for their Filipino class.

An adaptation of Filipino national hero Jose Rizal’s “El Filibusterismo” novel, the students even wore period clothing to match the storyline and held a photoshoot at several locations that matched the story and made it appear to be in the Spanish era. These kids were able to transform modern locations into the Spanish era with special effects.

Aside from doing a photoshoot at their school, they also did it at the seashore, a forest, and some historical locations.

Since this is done for their Filipino subject, the actors spoke in Filipino but placed English subtitles.

Here’s the impressive piece:

Netizens Express Amazement

A lot of netizens are truly impressed by the students’ work, saying that these kids actually do better work than many local TV shows and movies!

And the Oscar goes to… I am so amazed by this!” one netizen wrote.

Even if the voice over and acting lacks emotions and a bit off. The editing made it great. I salute the editor for giving so much effort on this. This is so far the best trailer of El Fili filmed by students since most of the videos they post here on YT are all… Honestly, cringey. But this is worth watching. Keep it up guys! Applause for the actors for trying their best!” a critic wrote.

The cinematography give me chills… (There’s still some place for improvement but nonetheless it was amazing.),” another chimed in.

Solution to ‘No Back Ride’ Policy? Funny ‘Social Distancing’ Video Goes Viral

Having a problem with the ‘no back ride’ policy? One couple found a hilarious solution to the ‘social distancing’ problem that’s got a lot of netizens laughing – and the video quickly went viral!

‘Social Distancing’ on a Motorcycle

In the Philippines, the ‘no back ride’ policy was imposed to ensure that there will be ‘social distancing’ to minimize, even stop, the rapid spread of COVID-19. Since the back rider can’t obviously sit 1m away from the driver, motorcycles can only be used by one person.

This poses a problem to many families, particularly because the motorcycle is their primary means of transportation to go to work, buy groceries, and other activities. Many Filipinos just can’t afford to buy a car and public transport options are limited at their area.

Funny Solution to ‘No Back Ride’ Policy

A video shared by Rodel Manalo drew laughs from netizens as it shows a woman riding on an aluminum basin that’s being pulled by a man on a motorcycle. The hilarious video has gained over 1.1 million views, with many netizens feeling amused over their antics.

At first glance, you might not see something wrong (or crazy?) with the man in the video who was just driving his motorcycle while wearing the prescribed helmet. He also had a masked on and didn’t have a back ride.

The guy wouldn’t have a problem passing through the checkpoint, but as the video continued, it was clear that he’s going to be in big trouble! Riding on an aluminum basin, a woman is clearly following ‘social distancing’ protocols but the land transportation office won’t be so happy with his modified ride.

Is This Safe?

While this might just be a joke video that was done for laughs, authorities warn people not to copy this setup. In reality, the ‘rider’ of the aluminum basin faces a lot of dangers. She could get hit by passing vehicles who might not notice her riding that low or she could be flung far as the motorcycle takes a turn on the road.

Other netizens also pointed out that the basin would easily heat up with friction. Aside from getting burns, the woman could eventually get scrapes from the road as the basin develops holes.

But for the sake of laughs, this one is definitely gold! Perfect solution to the ‘no back ride’ policy, huh? Check out this video:

Help Pours in for Old Woman Crying as She Awaits Relief Goods

Help pours in for an old woman who went viral after someone shared a video of her crying as she awaits relief goods. Faith in humanity restored…

Relief Goods for the Poor

In many places put under enhanced community quarantine across the Philippines, a lot of people are stuck at home with very little or even nothing to eat. The government has released funds and allowed local officials to use funds to provide food for their constituents.

Sadly, not everyone received food packs and relief goods from the government. While there are areas wherein everyone got relief goods, rich and poor alike, there are also so many places where only a select few were given due to lack of funds.

Recently, an old woman was seen on video crying as she watched the people from their barangay passing by, bringing relief goods to the people in their area – but they just keep driving past her. Feeling worried about her family and most likely also feeling hungry from lack of food the past days, the old woman could be seen shaking as she cries.

The man taking the video commented that the old woman was worried because none in their family had work at this time, but the barangay team just kept on passing by and not giving her any pack. The poor old woman broke hearts as her body shook in grief.

It turned out that only people with stubs were given relief goods. She didn’t have a stub. Thankfully, someone finally took pity on her and went back to give her a pack. Whew!

Here’s the heartbreaking video:

Help Pours In

After the video went viral, help poured in for the old woman. While she and her family are not on the barangay’s list, netizens reached out to help provide them with food.

In photos shared by Pinoy Juander, the old woman and another much older lady could be seen happily arranging the food items they received from netizens. Someone sent them a 50-kg sack of rice and there were packs of instant noodles, cans of sardines, some coffee, milk, and condiments.

Thank you, kind netizens!

What are Food Stubs?

Food stubs are often given to people as a means of controlling the flow of goods. This is particularly helpful when distributing items like relief goods to, ideally, ensure that the items are distributed fair and square.

VIDEO: Sari-Sari Store Goes Viral for Clever ‘Social Distancing’ Measures

The funny video of the clever social distancing measures implemented of a sari-sari store recently went viral.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in the Philippines, more and more people are taking the matter more seriously – as they should, of course! But it is also difficult to follow all government directives, particularly for those who need to buy food and to those who need to earn money to feed their family.

Clever Social Distancing Measures

In Cagayan de Oro City, southern Philippines, a sari-sari store has gone viral for the clever ‘social distancing’ measures they are implementing at their shop.

They are still open for business to continue earning money and providing basic services amid the community lockdown period. But because the government tells everyone to practice social distancing, the owners found a good way to implement this without having to remind their customers every time someone wants to buy something.

The sari-sari store locked its gate but put a bucket that the customer can pull to place their money or receive their goods.

Funny Video Goes Viral

In a funny video that has gone viral on Facebook page Katawa CDO Doodzkie, a young lad could be seen buying from the store. He was surprised to see that though the store was open, the gate was closed. When told that he had to pull the string to put his money to pay for the ice candy and junk food he bought, the boy had a good laugh.

The sari-sari store owner laughed, too, but explained that they are simply imposing ‘social distancing’. The boy laughed about them being too serious about it, but this shop owner is not swayed as they simply want to protect everyone and themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic.

But it’s actually a good idea, huh? Check out this video:

What is Social Distancing?

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the term ‘social distancing’ has become a common term. Social distancing actually means physical distancing. It is a set of nonpharmaceutical infection control actions such as standing apart for at least 1 meter. This is intended to stop or slow down the spread of a contagious disease.
