Young Girl Electrocuted in Bulacan While Walking at Flooded Street

In the Philippines, floods have already become a common thing during rainy days that people have long learned to cope and just walk through the flooded streets to their destinations.

But health officials continue to issue warnings against walking in the flooded streets, not just because of the physical dangers that people might encounter since they could not see the spots they step on but also because of the ailments they could contract from the dirty waters. An example is leptospirosis.

Aside from these dangers, however, there is also that possibility of power lines getting cut during the storm. When this happens, someone could get electrocuted if they accidentally touched the live wires because these are not easily seen when the waters are high and murky.

One girl in Baliwag, Bulacan recently got electrocuted by a power line while walking at a flooded street.

The child was with her two brothers and their mom, walking at Ilang-ilang Street in Concepcion Subdivision, Baliwag in Bulacan

The incident was caught on the CCTV camera just across the street. The two boys seen in the video are the girl’s brothers.

When the girl dropped to the flooded ground after touching the wire, her mother quickly tried to help her up but realized that the electricity wire was the one that made her fall. She tried to help the child again but was still unsuccessful on the second attempt.

Realizing she might also endanger her life is she pulls the child, the quick-thinking mother took a stick to move the power line away from the girl.

As she did so, the driver of a passing ambulance quickly pulled the child away and rushed her to the hospital. Thankfully, the child survived the accident! Whew.

Let this incident be a reminder for everyone to stay extra vigilant when walking in the flood waters.

Frustrated Citizen Puts Plants in Potholes, Jokes About ‘Eco-Friendly’ Road

Have you noticed that there are so many places in the Philippines with roads that look good and sturdy, yet these are destroyed and rebuilt? What’s sad is that there are so many muddy roads that need to be cemented yet the cemented ones are getting destroyed!

Citizen Puts Plants in Potholes

In the Philippines, you will find a lot of cemented roads that have little holes that were actually drilled by government contractors! If you happen to pass by a road that has those holes, then you will realize that the rest of the road is usually sturdy and cemented but the little holes are a sign that this street is up for demolition.

But a lot of Filipinos also know through firsthand experience that there are so many other roads in their locality that need to be cemented yet these seemingly alright roads are being destroyed.

Moreover, having those holes drilled does not also mean that the street will be redone soon. There are many times when it still takes years before the purposely damaged road gets reconstructed. Tsk. Tsk.

Glenn Cui Infante from Quezon City happened to be among the people who had seen too many of these little holes in the road. Since the holes are truly an eyesore, the frustrated citizen decided to take action by making the place pretty and ‘eco-friendly’.

Because the government might not be rebuilding that road anytime soon, Infante decided to put plants inside the little holes. The results are hilarious but also an eye-opener to the government officials, not just in his city but across the Philippines.

Sumobra naman pagiging plantitos mo hahaha,” another netizen joked.

Eco-friendly Roads

There are many ways to make eco-friendly roads. A lot of places plant greenery at the sides and make sure to maintain the plants. Many plant trees at the roadside. The materials used for the road can also be modified to include eco-friendly options, but this is subject to consultation with experts to ensure that the streets remain sturdy.

Dog Carrying Hollow Blocks in Mouth Goes Viral

Photos of a dog carrying hollow blocks in its mouth have gone viral, with netizens sharing their fears of getting bitten by such a fierce-looking dog. But it sure does look cute, huh?

Dog Goes Viral for Carrying Hollow Blocks

A lot of people fear dogs because these animals could bite them, especially the breeds that are known to be fierce. Many owners feel safer in homes with these kinds of dogs, particularly if these are just free to roam around the yard.

But one dog recently went viral after its owner shared photos of it carrying hollow blocks while appearing to be patrolling from the balcony.

Juneth Bognot reposted the pictures on Facebook group DOG LOVERS PHILIPPINES with the funny caption:

Bisita: “Nangangagat ba yang aso niyo?”

Ako: “Hindi. Nambabato lang.”

Netizens had a good laugh over the photos, saying that they are sure to avoid such a house if a dog like this is standing guard – and most especially one that carries a hollow blocks on patrol!

Kung ganyan makita ko sa daan. Baka hahanap na lng ako ng ibang daan lol,” one netizen commented.

Pakipost po ang address nyo para iwasan na po ng sambayanang Filipino 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Hello there babies… you are still cute and adorable despite of hollow blocks. 😍” another joked.

Lagot ang mga magnanakaw o akyat-bahay, may bantay na kayang-kayang mangagat ng buong buto o kaya naman hulugan lang ng hollow blocks,” another pointed out.

Others were concerned over the dog, especially because the hollow blocks might hurt its mouth.

Bakit ganoon?

Indeed, dogs are man’s best friends and they also make the best guards at home! But we just hope this dog is alright and that no person will be hit by that big chunk of hollow blocks. Ouch.
