A pair of twins named Jollibee and McDonald recently went viral for graduating from Senior High. A lot of netizens were simply amused that they would hold such names, particularly because the names are of two rival fast food outlets! LOL.
While ‘Jollibee’ and ‘McDonald’ are pretty common names in terms of restaurants and fast food outlets, these are not so common as names of people. Mark Lester Andrei Cruzet shares the story behind the twins’ unique names.
Mark Lester is a friend of the family who grew up under the care of his School Paper Adviser (SPA) from elementary, Evelyn Pangindian. He shared that he had been with the family for many years since they helped him a lot, financially and emotionally.
According to Mark Lester, Ma’am Evelyn’s husband was the one who picked the names for the twins.
“Kasi si kuya mo (asawa ni Ma’am) ‘yung uniqueness of the name at art of remembering, once na nalaman (‘yung names ng kambal) anjan agad ung natutuwa sila at madali nilang matandaan name nila,” Mark Lester remembered Ma’am Evelyn’s explanation.
Needless to say, the names are unique! And just as their names bring smiles to kids’ faces each time parents would say they would go to Jollibee or McDonald’s, Mark Lester said that the twins are also such great people.
“I am sharing not just the lovable names of this twin but also how lucky to have their family as my second family as well. Mga kapatid na turing ko sa kambal na ito at pangalawang ina sa SPA ko. Minsan, sa kanila na nila ako pinapatulog lalo na noong napalayas ako sa amin. Tinutulungan kapag may problema lalo na financially. I am grateful dahil alam kong bukod sa sarili kong pamilya, may iba pa akong kikilalaning pamilya sa ibang tahanan. I am blessed beyond measure for finding a family away from our home,” Mark Lester wrote.
“Love ko ‘tong family na ito, dahil sa kanila, bida ang saya.”
Jollibee Versus McDonald’s
There is no question that McDonald’s is the number fast food outlet in the entire world. But did you know that in the Philippines, it could never be number one? That distinction is held by homegrown Jollibee, a brand that is now expanding across the world. While Jollibee might not overtake McDonald’s in its popularity across the world, the brand takes pride in always being number one in the Philippines.

After the horrific event, his wife Mabel Dapanas shared how she felt a strong sense of premonition while she was having a video call with her late husband before the fateful flight.
According to Mabel, her husband kept telling her that he loves her and that he will never forget her or their child.
“Sabi niya mag-ingat diyan sa bahay, mahal daw niya ako. Hindi niya raw ako kalimutan at tsaka ‘yong anak namin. Sign na talaga niya na parang may mangyari sa kanila. Hindi niya matiis na hindi niya ako ma-contact, ma-video call,” the grieving wife recalled.
“Ang sabi niya ‘yong sinakyan na C-130 na airplane may ano raw may problem daw sabi ng asawa ko.”

Ukay Ukay Seller Finds 550k Yen (Php240k) from Wallet Inside Used Jacket
Are you fond of buying ukay ukay stuff? Have found something interesting or valuable inside? Well, one ukay ukay seller found 550k yen (Php240k) inside a wallet with no IDs – and he plans to use the money to expand his business! Wow.
Ukay Ukay Seller Finds Fortune Inside Used Jacket
For many people, particularly in the third world or developing countries, ukay ukay items are a cheap way of getting ‘new’ clothes, bags, shoes, and other items. While there are many items that are old, many are actually like new or would easily look great after washing or cleaning.
And there are some buyers or sellers who were actually lucky enough to find valuables or money inside! Others got hold of rare or limited-edition bags, clothes, and shoes!
In Petaling Jaya in Selangor, Malaysia, 29-year-old ukay ukay seller Wan Mohamad Adam Wan Mohamed bought two bundles of used clothes from a warehouse in Wakaf Baru.
He paid RM50 (Php600) for each bundle.
“I opened the sack of clothes to arrange the items as I plan to sell them as a bundle. I found a black wallet in one of the coats in the sack,” Mohamed explained.
“I was surprised to see so much cash. I counted the amount before taking photos and uploading them onto my Facebook page at 9.20pm yesterday.”
He received various reactions after posting the windfall, with some saying that he should find the owner.
But the wallet didn’t have any IDs or anything that would have identified the owner. Also, since the wallet contained yens, it mostly came from Japan.
Because there seems no way for Mohamed to find the original owner of this wallet, he considered it as a lucky windfall. He plans on using the money to buy more sacks of ukay ukay to sell at his shop.
Where to Buy Ukay Ukay Bundle
Depending on your location, there might be sellers that sell bulk bales of ukay ukay. You can find them on Facebook or online shops such as Shopee and Lazada. Other local ukay ukay sellers also use Alibaba and other warehouse bulk sellers to buy their bundles.
