Tambays Created “Pang-Red Horse” Sign for Old Man Who Can’t Read or Write

A man who was begging for money asked help from some tambays (bystanders) in creating a sign, but they ended up making fun of him and creating a sign that says “Pang-Red Horse Lang…” What can you say about this?

Tambays Make Fun of Old Man Who Can’t Read or Write

It’s still a sad reality that in many places there are people who don’t know how to read or write. Of course, that’s probably because they had no choice because they were probably living too far away from school or didn’t have the means to get an education.

But while it’s sad that they can’t read or write, this is definitely something that we shouldn’t laugh about or mock!

Sadly, there are people who think that they are better than others and that those who don’t know how to read or write are fair game.

That’s what happened to one old man who asked some tambays (bystanders) for help in creating a sign on his envelope.

The old man was begging for money and wanted the tambays to write, “Pang-pagkain lang.” It’s supposed to be a plea for people to give him money for some food.

But the tambays made fun of him, writing “Pang-Red horse lang…” In the Philippines, Red Horse is a popular beer brand.

Apparently, the old man had no idea what was going on. But he was puzzled when some passersby angrily told him that he doesn’t deserve to receive any money because he was just going to use the money to get himself a drink.

It was only after a concerned citizen asked him about his sign that he learned what the tambays had actually done. Tsk. Tsk.

Netizens were furious, understandably! Many are hoping that the old man received the help he needed and that he’d steer clear of the tambays so they won’t make fun of him in the future.

Illiteracy in the Philippines

The literacy rate is high in the Philippines at more than 88.5%. However, the DepEd (Department of Education) confirms that as many as 6 million people are functionally illiterate (they can’t read, write, or do basic math).

Most of these people live in indigenous cultural communities that don’t have a written tradition for their languages.

Guy Returns to Store, Pays Correct Amount (Php5k+) after Realizing Cashier’s Mistake

A guy returns to the store, pays correct amount (more than Php5k difference) after realizing the cashier’s mistake. His kind gesture made waves online, especially because the cashier’s mistake would have been deducted from her salary!

Guy Pays Correct Amount after Realizing Cashier’s Mistake

If someone makes a mistake and hands you a change that’s much bigger than you’re supposed to get or charges you an amount much smaller than what you’re supposed to pay, what would you do?

For some, that might be an “unexpected blessing,” but for others, it’s simply not right to keep the money.

That’s exactly what Rodel Ocampo Acuña experienced after buying from a grocery store in Pampanga.

He bought groceries worth Php5,388.45, but the cashier accidentally charged just Php53.88 from his debit account.

Neither of them realized the error. It was only when he got home that he realized the error. He was surprised to see that only a small amount was charged from his bank account.

Instead of keeping quiet about it and thinking it’s a “blessing” since it wasn’t really his fault, Rodel decided to do the right thing. He went back to the grocery store to pay for the difference.

He knows that if he didn’t, the cashier will have the amount deducted from her salary – and Php5k+ is already a big amount.

He originally posted the video on TikTok where it garnered over 1.4 million views, but the social media platform deleted it. So, he reposted the video on his Facebook account.

Reposting this to make sure everyone’s aware that one person’s blessing could be another person’s suffering,” Rodel captioned the post.

Hindi porket kulang ang chinarge sayo or sobra ang sinukli sayo e blessing na yun. Yes, you may consider it a blessing sa part mo baka nga kasi need mo yon nung time na nangyari yon. But the other person would be suffering ng malala kasi magtatrabaho sia habang nagbabayad ng nawala sa kaha niya. Imagine kung ikaw or yung mahal mo sa buhay ang ganunin? Papayag ka ba?

He explained that he didn’t do this to brag but to inspire.

Sharing this video not to brag what I did but to inspire others who think na nagulangan nila ang kapwa nila dahil sa pagkakamaling nagawa ng cashier or ng kahit sino pang nagtitinda jan,” he explained.

Remember, karma is digital. In an instant, something can happen to you or your loved ones. Iba bumalik ang karma. Not just one, not just two, but could be ten times or even more!

Php40k Party Package? Netizen Shares Bad Experience with Catering Service

What can you expect to get from a Php40k party package? A netizens shared their bad experience with a catering service that didn’t fulfill the promised food options they advertised or offered – it was a good thing the family lived across a pancit restaurant or else their visitors would have to leave the party hungry. Tsk. Tsk.

Catering Company’s Php40k Party Package Goes Viral

A lot of people choose to hire a catering company for parties and special occasions so they don’t have to cook the food or prepare the other things needed for the event.

Of course, we already expect the costs to be higher when hiring a catering company compared to preparing the food and stuff ourselves.

However, a catering company is currently in hot water after a furious customer shared photos of the Php40 party package they delivered.

Ben Ramolete posted a public announcement to a the public Facebook group Events Venue in Quezon City to warn other customers about a catering service (named in Ramolete’s Facebook post).

According to his post, they contracted the services of the catering service they found online. At first, they only booked the Php15k package for the event setup only (Backdrop, balloons, table setup, cake, etc.) since they already talked with another catering service.

When they met up with owner, she was able to convince them to get their catering service, too. The whole package will cost them Php40k for 100 pax, but it will be a hassle-free transaction – or so they thought.

The owner even threw in a bonus to the deal: if they pay in full, she will give them a 2-layer cake and some food carts. It was so tempting that the couple didn’t think anything would go bad if they paid upfront.

Sadly, they didn’t even get a receipt for their payment.

When the day arrived, the owner kept giving excuses why things kept getting delayed.

And although the event was scheduled at 3PM, the food arrived at 9PM – and it definitely isn’t worth Php40k at all.

Earlier, the couple had to tell their 90+ guests that the catering service hadn’t arrived. Some family members contributed so they could buy some food from the pancit house across the street so that, somehow, the other guests could eat.

Advice on How to Avoid Getting Scammed by Online Catering Services

Ramolete admits that they made some mistakes when transacting with this catering service, but he shares their experience so that others will learn a lesson from what they had gone through.

Moral lesson: Always do thorough research before booking a service especially online, always stick to your budget and accept what it can and cannot avail. Wag pilitin yung di naman kaya,” he explained.

Do you agree?

Overpriced Simple Meal Goes Viral

Everyone knows that popular tourist spots can get pricey in terms of food, souvenirs, accommodations, transportation, etc. That’s why there’s this term called “tourist traps” because unsuspecting tourists are tricked into shelling out their money for overpriced goods.

Recently, a certain Vilma Uy posted photos of a seafood feast on what appears to be the floor of a pump boat taken at Virgin Island, a sandbar in Panglao, Bohol, Philippines.

The group (13 people) could only fork out Php19,000 in cash. So, they even had to pay the rest with GCASH.

The overpriced bill includes 20 pieces of banana that cost a total of Php900.

Some netizens couldn’t help but joke that the tourists’ bill in Panglao is like dining at Amanpulo, the exclusive high-end resort that went viral in May for its pricey menu, including the banana turon worth Php750.

Uy’s post received mixed reactions from netizens, with some even calling them names and saying that they were too lazy to bring their food because tourists can actually bring their own lunch to the area. Others also pointed out that they should have asked for the prices before ordering the food.
