PWD Ramp or Slide? Lea Salonga Reacts to Photo with Anger

In the Philippines, a lot of people don’t really have any idea about the proper ways to deal with facilities for persons with disability (PWDs). In parking lots of business establishments and even in the streets, you can find PWD ramps being blocked by vehicles.

Business establishments across the country are supposed to provide PWD ramps with sturdy handlebars to provide easy access for differently abled persons under Republic Act 344; however, it seems that the law is not implemented strictly.

Lea Salonga reposted a photo taken from a business establishment somewhere in the Philippines whose PWD ramp was so steep that netizens had a good laugh dubbing it as a slide or an ‘extreme challenge’ version of a PWD ramp.

But Lea was not pleased. She angrily shared the photo of the ramp, slamming whoever was in charge of the ramp for creating this design and actually having it built in this manner.

Obviously, whoever made this only thought about ‘compliance’ with the law, but even ordinary people know that the engineers shouldn’t have approved of this design and that it does not actually comply with the PWD ramp requirements.

Just by looking at this photo, it was obvious to see that a PWD with mobility problems could never pass on this ramp! While it was necessary for a ramp to be placed to allow those on wheelchairs to have easy access to places, this one is certainly just for display, eh?

This got a lot of jokes on social media.

I shall call this the ‘Mt. Everest Rump’,” one netizen wrote.

That’s not a ramp, it’s a built in sign board. Break out the chalk,” another one joked.

Must be a ramp for acrobatic PWDs,” another netizen chimed in.

I’m assuming that’s for quickly getting rid of the unwanted customer…” another netizen theorized.

But others are more serious, especially considering the gravity of the situation, really.

No words! And a toss up between the laugh or cry emoji kasi parang joke! Then you realize it’s not…so am tapping sad then 😢,” a netizen commented.

Grabe, kahit hindi PWD, di dadaan diyan. Yung magpagawa kaya nyan ang i-require na sya ang gumamit nung rampa everyday, at yun lang ang pwede nya gamitin, bawal yung hagdan! Tsk tsk tsk,” another one added.

What do you think of this PWD ramp?

Couple Flexes 5-Digit Savings after Choosing to Make All Php50 Bills ‘Invisible’

A couple recently flexed their 5-digit savings after choosing to make all Php50 bills as ‘invisible’. Thanks to their savings, they were able to have enough cash to start building their house. Truly inspiring, huh?

‘Invisible’ Php50 Challenge

It was last year when Kember Flores Casabuena heard about the ‘invisible’ Php50 challenge while watching an episode of Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.

At first, Kember put the money inside a shoebox and encouraged her partner, Alphie Castante Olvis, to join her in saving his Php50 bills, too. Kember said that her partner was not so keen on the idea at first but was later encouraged to also add his Php50 bills to the box after seeing her doing this enthusiastically.

Kember and Alphie were so determined to do the challenge that they would really save up all the Php50 bills, even if they receive several bills as change. It was difficult to follow but they aimed to truly make the Php50 bills invisible so they can save up enough money to start building a house for themselves.

As the months passed, their savings filled the shoe box, but they did not think about stopping. So, they bought an empty can of paint to transfer their ‘invisible’ savings.

According to Kember, her partner works as tile setter while she simply stays at home. Yet Alphie’s job is not regular and there were times when he didn’t have any work, but the two chose to live within their means and continued with their savings challenge.

Recently, as the COVID-19 crisis raged, the two faced a lot of financial challenges but they were able to pull through with the other savings they had.

When they finally opened the can filled with Php50 bills, they were so happy to see that the 5-digit savings may already be used to build their own house. It will be a small and simple one but the couple feels happy that they will no longer be renting.

In this savings challenge, one renders all Php50 bills as ‘invisible’ and makes sure to saved them up.

Dialysis Patient Seeks Help after Husband Left Her for Nurse at Treatment Facility

A dialysis patient seeks the help of Raffy Tulfo in Action after her husband left her for a nurse at the treatment facility. What’s really sad is that the nurse had become her friend and she was actually the one who introduced the two!

Nurse Steals Patient’s Husband

Rica De Vera is a patient undergoing dialysis at the hospital where nurse Vera Mae Galang Barrameda used to work. Because Rica regularly goes to the hospital for her dialysis sessions, she befriended many of the nurses there, including Vera Mae.

As friends, Rica often talks to Vera Mae about her husband who’s a seafarer. She feels happy that he supports them and had always been a good husband to her. On the other hand, Vera Mae shared that she’s annulled from her husband who was also a seaman because the latter had lots of women behind her back.

Knowing that Vera Mae had a bad experience with a cheating husband, Rica did not expect that she would actually steal her man! When Niko De Vera, Rica’s husband, was set to go home, Vera Mae requested Rica to ask whether he could her (the nurse) some bra. Niko didn’t mind.

When Niko arrived in the Philippines, Rica introduced the two. She trusts her husband and Vera Mae is her friend. Since Niko was often the one to take her to the hospital for dialysis and treats her to a meal afterwards, she didn’t see nothing wrong in asking him to message Vera Mae for advice on medicines and food she needed as she was feeling weak.

But she didn’t think the two would go and have a relationship behind her back. What’s worse, Niko left her and their kids for the nurse. Rica was able to get her kicked out from her job due to the relationship, but Niko supported the nurse so she could go to the US.

The poor patient had to seek help from Tulfo to find justice against her husband and her former nurse!
