Tatay Alex and his son, Christian “Xian” Gutal, shared their recollections about their difficult past as they struggled with poverty. According to Tatay Alex, he has to pay a ‘boundary’ of Php700 to the jeepney owner. So, he gets out of the house to drive at 5AM, and only goes home at around 10PM.

He drives the route from Guadalupe to Pateros, vice versa. But there are times when he feels too tired and goes home early. However, there are also many times that he has to push himself to drive until 10PM because he earned very little for the day.

Huwag ka’ng ma-inggit sa buhay ng iba. Kung ano ang meron ka, pagyamanin mo na lang,” said Tatay Alex when asked about the lessons he learned in life.

After the ‘Linda’ incident, Tatay Alex received Php50,000 worth of PROMAG 300 products through Tulfo. His son was able to help him grow the business – and it’s going so well that they are selling as much as Php8,000 to Php10,000 per day. They earn a 35% profit on these sales.

Now that they are earning a lot of money, Xian still has no plans to quit his job. Instead, the money goes to a savings account so they can save enough to buy Tatay Alex a car so he can drive through Grab.

Huwag titigas ang puso niya. Kahit anong nagawa sa kanyang kasalanan ng tao. Kasi siya naman yung masisira kung tumigas yung puso niya. Pero yung sa ating lang naman kasi eh yung katarungan po,” Xian said when asked for message to his dad.

Old Scavenger Goes Viral for Donating His Entire Savings to Taal Evacuees

He doesn’t have a lot of money and actually struggles each day as he roams around the city looking for bottles to sell so he can have food, yet when he heard about what happened in Batangas, a scavenger rushed to GMA Foundation to donate his entire savings to the Taal evacuees!

Tatay Ben Garcia is 71 years old but he still roams the city to search for bottles he could sell to the junk shop. He is accompanied by his youngest son who has special needs. The used bottles and other things they get to collect around the city are placed at the sidecar of the bicycle his son drives.

At the end of the day, they sell all the stuff to the junk shop where they could sometimes earn as much as Php500. This is already a big income for Tatay Ben; thus, when that happens, he would keep Php200 as savings for the rainy days.

Despite the meager income he and his son earn from the junk they collect and sell, Tatay Ben was able to save a total of Php2,000. And while it took him many months to save that money, Tatay Ben willingly donated everything to the Taal evacuees!

For Tatay Ben, the money might not be big, but it could still help the victims of the eruption. And though he surely needs it for the rainy days, he willingly shared everything because he still felt blessed that the volcanic eruption did not directly affect him and his family.

Tatay Ben wasn’t the only one who sent donations for Taal evacuees, of course. There are also many people like him who shared what they could, whether they were rich or poor.

Guy on the Way to Meeting Helps Badjao Family, Feels Happy to Feel That They’re His Family

He is on the way to a meeting with fellow Frontrow members, but one guy did not hesitate to help a Badjao family. His act of kindness went viral, with so many people touched by what he felt when he was dining with this bunch.

The still unnamed guy shared that he was riding a jeep on the way to Cubao for a BOM at the Frontrow office when he heard the jeepney driver shouting at the family to get off his vehicle. The driver repeatedly told the family to get off, but perhaps they could not understand what he is saying or they had become numb to this kind of treatment from people. Whatever the reason, the family did not get off the vehicle, leading the jeepney driver to become angrier and continue to shout at them to leave.

Taking pity on the family, the guy told the driver to let them ride as he would pay for their fare. He had tears in his eyes as he watched the family getting this kind of treatment from the driver.

When they reached Cubao, the family also got off, but he heard one of the kids saying he was hungry. He didn’t hear what the parents said to the kid but knowing this bunch most likely did not have money to buy food as they didn’t even have money for fare, he decided to treat them for lunch.

He was a bit disappointed that the family was turned away when they entered the restaurant, but he talked to the manager and told the crew he would vouch for the Badjao family as he would also buy their food.

While they were eating, he felt so happy when he heard them say that they were grateful for his help because most people drive them away. But he was happier that he while he was eating with them, he felt like he had a family even for just a little while.

He hopes that he would see them again in the future.
