Sick Kid, Mom Ride MRT to Seek Help After Hospitals Kept on Turning Them Away

A sick kid and his mom took a ride on an MRT to seek help after hospitals kept turning them away. Someone taking a ride on the same train shared their story in hopes that someone could help them because the kid really looks so pitiful.

Hospitals Keep Turning Sick Kid Away

It is not easy being sick because you don’t really know whether you might get well or not. But what is really sad is that there are times when the sick person is not even provided with treatment just because the family can’t afford to pay the hospital at all!

Manilyn Palad was on her daily commute when she noticed a mother cradling an obviously sick and weak kid on the MRT. She and the other passengers took pity on the kid and asked his mom what’s happening.

So, the mom showed them her son’s body, saying that he’s been having trouble eating and that some of his internal parts from the digestive system are out of his body. The two had come all the way from Parañaque, walking in some areas as they tried to find a hospital to accept the kid but they kept on getting rejected because they did not have money.

According to Manilyn, the two were headed to the Pasig City General Hospital in hopes that the boy will receive treatment there.

Many netizens took pity on the kid and his mother. Donations and any help you wish to provide should be coursed through this number: 09262872534 owned by Rosemarie, the kid’s mother.

Some netizens slammed Manilyn for not helping out, saying that she’s just doing this for likes. However, others defended her and pointed out that Manilyn probably didn’t have the means to help the two financially but her post would have helped them reach more people who might actually be able to help.

Hospital Down Payment Law in the Philippines

Under Republic Act No. 10932, also known as the Anti-Hospital Deposit Law, it is unlawful for any hospital or medical clinic to require or demand deposit or any other form of advance payment before providing basic emergency care or medical treatment. The same thing also applies for confinement.

Under the law, “any official, medical practitioner or employee of the hospital or medical clinic who violates the provisions of this Act shall be punished by imprisonment of not less than six (6) months and one (1) day but not more than two (2) years and four (4) months, or a fine of not less than Php100,000.00 but not more than Php300,000.00 or both.”

What’s sad, however, is that most hospitals still require down payment and most patients don’t really have a choice but to comply.

Woman Loses Weight, Receives Php50k Reward from Husband

Losing weight can be difficult, but many were able to achieve it with the right motivation. For one woman in Davao City, the motivation came in the form of Php50,000 that her husband promised she’d get if she achieves her goal. It was a challenge she readily accepted – and she soon won! Wow.

In reality, there are just too many temptations out there for you to eat more or slack off on your exercise routines. Plus, losing weight isn’t as simple as dieting for a couple of weeks – you might need to do it for months.

But for the many who were actually able to achieve their goal, finding the right motivation is the key.

For Cris Cringol from Davao City, the motivation is the Php50,000 that her husband promised if she reached her weight goal: losing 17 kg in 5 months.

While that’s certainly difficult to achieve, especially for a busy mom of two, Cringol was able to achieve her weight goal. She admitted that it first started out as a joke with her husband, but she would soon take up the offer – and he followed through with the reward.

So, how was she able to achieve it? Through exercise, she said.

According to Cringol, she exercised twice a day – early morning and before going to bed.

It started as joke po siya maam.

Tomatoes

A lot of Filipinos use tomatoes for most dishes, whether salads or soups and stews. What’s great about this vegetable is that it is easy to grow and will also be perfect for container gardening if you don’t have a lot of space.

Squash

It is easy to grow squash but this vegetable requires a lot of space to grow. While it won’t be ideal if you have a small space, this would be perfect for gardens with plenty of space for the vines to grow.
