It is an ordinary thing for parents to send their children to school, up to college. In countries like the Philippines, this is part of the parents’ responsibility – parents are expected to send their kids to college! But in countries like the United States, kids are often on their own when they reach 18; this also means finding ways to send themselves to college, whether on scholarship, through jobs, through student loans, or a little bit of everything.
While not common, there are also times when the roles are reversed – when the children are the ones who send their parents to school! This happened to teen actor McNeal “Awra” Briguela who sent his dad, Oneal Brian, to college.
“Congrats papa! So proud of you!! 💛 Sabi nga nila “its better than late, than never” ❤️ Kaming lahat nang anak mo sobrang saludo sayo! Kase pinakita mo samen kung gaano kahalaga ang pag aaral! I love you papa!! Congrats ulet! 😘” the teen proudly announced on his Instagram page as he shared a photo of his dad wearing a toga.
Awra was smiling from ear to ear in the photo, showing just how proud he was of his father.

Though Awra did not mention anything about funding his father’s education in his post, comedian-actor Ogie Diaz reposted the photo to congratulate Awra for sending his father to school.
“Karaniwan nang kwento na ang magulang ay nakapagpatapos ng anak sa kolehiyo. Sa larawang ito, gusto kong batiin si Awra (ng Ang Probinsiyano), dahil napagtapos niya ang kanyang ama sa kolehiyo,” Ogie wrote.
“Congrats, Awra!!!! At ipagpatuloy mo ang kabutihan mo bilang isang anak. Isa kang inspirasyon.”
The news surprised netizens; though avid fans already knew about this some years ago.
“Parang siya na po yung nagpapa-aral sa akin. Baliktad na,” Oneal Brian had revealed in a television interview back in 2017.
Congratulations, Awra and Dad Oneal Brian!
